Six years ago today Toby came into our lives. He was a frightened, starving little pup with a broken leg and Mom found him stumbling along the side of the road as she was headed home from work. He was so afraid of her that he tried to run away but he couldn't because of his injured leg. But Mom was very patient and carefully picked him up, put him in the car and hurried to the Doggie Doctor. As Mom was driving to the Doggie Doctor the little pup whined and cried so Mom turned on the radio and that seemed to calm the pup down and he soon drifted off to sleep. After having his leg set in a cast and a couple of days at the Doggie Hospital, Toby was allowed to come live with us. He was very timid and shy and it took a long time before he would even play.

STAND UP TO CANCER
Woof everypups. Last night NBC, ABC and CBS simultaneously aired STAND UP TO CANCER in an effort to raise money to combat this horrible disease. Now Mom doesn't normally watch these shows, but to honor our dear Aunt Annie who lost her wonderful mom Helen to colon cancer two weeks ago, we all gathered and watched the show. Now I know that times are hard and the price of doggie biscuits is skyrocketing, but if you have the financial means to do so, please donate to STAND UP TO CANCER.
Every year over 500,000 people in this country die from cancer. That's 1500 Americans every day. It is an atrocity that this is allowed to continue without intervention. More funding for research is needed immediately and the weight of finding a cure has been placed on the shoulders of private citizens.
500,000 PEOPLE EVERY YEAR, 1,500 PEOPLE EVERY DAY, 62 PEOPLE EVERY HOUR, 1 PERSON EVERY SECOND WILL DIE OF CANCER. WAKE UP WASHINGTON!!! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? WE CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER, PEOPLE ARE DYING! THIS IS A CAUSE WORTH FIGHTING FOR! STAND UP TO CANCER NOW!!
